Food when out, can I moan please

DS2 used to be terrible when we were eating out, and I thought he had overcome it, but nope, it's back. I've no idea why! He won't eat anything that we put infront of him, he regresses back to no language at all and just wants to drink juice. It's a nightmare, especially as we are meant to be going on holiday in a weeks time! It's a caravan holiday, so most of the meals will be cooked at the caravan, but it would be nice to be able to eat out once and a while.

We are going to have to go back to the "sneaking in a Happy Meal" route again aren't we?

Is it stress with the food, or stress at the environment? I know we have to visit a place several times before DS will eat there and accept it - then it is always a cheese sandwich or chips!

You have my sympathies. We are going on a caravan holiday soon, and I will have to cook every night too, or DS will starve. I hope there is a Tesco nearby so i can get his usual foods.

could you not pack him a sandwiche(example) and have a quiet word at the place, I am sure if expalined they are hardly going to turn paying customers away.
or could he just drink juice and eat later?

I've checked online, and the nearest tesco/Asda is nearly 20 miles away

WMF, I think it is the noise tbh, he seems to be getting quite bad with his noise sensitivity atm. We were in TGI Fridays yesterday, somewhere he is familiar with, and there was a rather rowdy birthday party going on, and he sat through the whole meal covering his ears.

2shoes, we usually take something for him when he gets like this, but it's when we go somewhere impulsive that is hard.

He was fine a few weeks ago, he would happily eat something that was "familiar" like spaghetti bolognese or chicken nuggets and chips. He wouldn't even eat ice cream if it was offered to him.

Ear defenders? We use these with DS when he is noise sensitive. He uses them in the dining hall at school. It cuts out one channel of overload and helps him manage the other stresses.
Noise sensitivity here varies, and seems to be linked to overall stress - we just make the ear defenders available and DS is now able to tell us when he needs them.
DS also quite likes restaurants with cubicle type arrangements - cuts out alot of the visual overload.

We always ask for a booth, because DS2 is a runner. I'm now dreading this holiday. I hope he will eat!
