a pissing protest!!!

ds1 2.9 asd has been potty training in fact today he has started using the toilet and doing very well at it. he holds on when he is out sometimes upto 5 hours!! the problem is when he is sent to the naughty step he pees i thought it was because he was upset at first so ignored it. but yesterday he took his trousers of and peed while shouting eerrrr (what he says when something is messy)today when he was told to sit on it he peed again despite the fact he had been 10 minutes before so did not need to go and when i went to get him he was grinning at me so i think he knows its wrong and is doing it for attention or even as a protest.
any tips or advice please.
he has the step as a sort of time out to get him out of the situation and is only on it for a couple of minutes at a time.

My 6 year old hfa, did this exact thing when he was first toilet trained, at the time I didn't even know he was autistic.
He did it to get a reaction out of me, and often laughed at it. I just gave up on the naughty step and took things away from him if I absolutely had to, or stuck with praise and rewards such as stickers. The praise whenever he did something good and stickers plus ignoring everything I wanted to discourage worked best, still does.

thanks for that hopefully it is just a phase. he gets lots of praise when could but couldnt give a toss if things are taken away he is used to it. his main thing is throwing so he will keep on throwing until he is away from anything he can throw and will get himself worked up as he keeps on throwing or if you try to take things of him he goes on the step for a minute or two calms down kiss for sorry and is quite happy again. he is a stickerphopic he has never liked them and even does not like them on other people. i did ignore the peeing at first as i thought it was an accident so didnt make a fuss just reminded him pees in the potty and cleaned it up.
i think he will now take his pants and trousers of if he will do it so just strip him of and take him to the toilet perhaps the pain of getting dressed and undressed for no reason will put him off as it will be longer than he would spend on the step anyway and he doesnt like being fussed with.

DD2 (NT) did this. I switched the naughty place to being the downstairs loo.

Brightly coloured ping-pong ball down the toilet for little boys to aim at might help. Takes it all out of them!

If it's used as a protest, then I might just leave them to it for a couple of minutes so they don't associate your reaction with their little protest.
