How do you respond to proposed SEN statement?

We received proposed statement last week. I have called SOSSEN and have been going through with a fine tooth comb any ambiguities etc. I know I have to write a letter to say I want to make changes to the proposed statement within 15days and name a school but do I send amended statement back with letter or do I just say that I want to make changes and talk to them directly?

send the letter back keep the statement i didnt send mine back just photocopied the bits i used as proof and kept the rest

SO when did you tell them about the changes that you wanted to be made?

they will offer you a meeting and then you can discuss fully the details you want changed i had time on my hands so wrote long letter photocopied the parts as proof or what i wasn't happy with yet to hear back from that though

i highlighted areas of his needs and problems and also highlighted what they had missed out in section 2 but what reports state he should have

i had his statement about a week and wrote letter with extras

they are supposed to contact you within 15 days to arrange a meeting then from there you can discuss what you want changed

i was hoping with all proof sent they would just change it without meeting but haven't heard back for meeting yet

when I got dd1's proposed statement, I asked for a meeting to discuss changes we wanted made.

the LEA ignored this request/procrastinated for 2 months (despite legal invvolvement)

once we had the meeting, they still stalled.

they were, however an extreme expample of useless LEA.

since we moved, and dd1 is now at a (private) ASD school while we wait for new LEA's words of wisdom, and new school advised me to just rewrite the statement.

so i typed out the whole document, and jsut amended as I saw fit - deleted thing i didn't like, added in things i wanted said, and then sent it off with a cover letter saying something along the lines of " We were not entirely happy with the way the statement read. The attached is an example of the type of support we are expecting for dd1"

I have yet to see how successful this approach is, but having had an LEA who ignored everything we said, and blatantly made up things we didn't say and then "quoted" us, i thought at least this way I was sure that y words weren't being taken down incorrectly.

yes i haven't heard back at all and sent back few days before you phoenix i'll give them a call
