We are contemplating whether to apply for DLA for my dd. Looking at the criteria and what they expect - Dd does have some extra needs in terms of therapy, exercises and activities that I need to do with her daily to assist with her development. It does not seem like a lot at this stage so do not think we would qualify for it.

We thought about waiting until she was about a year old and then checking it out further. We figured at 12 months there would be more work to be done assisting her.

ANy suggestions?

isnt there a self addressed ewnvolepment with the form? think he has to go to the disability benefits office, but your local benefits will be able to provide the address for u.

just pop down the benfits office then in the morning. they'll have envolopes there to send to the right dept.

they are a nightmare to fill in arent they.

Keep a photocpopy! When you have to do it again you can just repeat and add without having to torture youself trying to describe things.

i always forget to do that davros. but considering my dd1 problems could dramicatically improve in the next 18months hopefully means i wont need to reapply after this time.

I| hadn't thought of that Davros thanks for that.. will pop down to the office next week and send it off. I already have made life uncomfortable for people at the DWP office -problem with NI number -long story.. but frotned up with dd in pram and me demanding to see someone to get it sorted out.... perhaps they'll be more helpful this time.

I don't think we have given enough information and think we will probably be turned down but who knows - it seems a lottery when it comes down to awarding it.

I was given very good advice the first time I did it which is to think of the worst day and the worst night and write that down. Needless to say I didn't do that and was fairly moderate but have since realised that this is the best thing to do but it is also the most horrid thing to have to do..........

eidsvold if you are refused your application try to get someone to help you fill it in next time. My HV was golden, she knew what things to write down-keywords and things and you have to keep repeating youself in all the sections
