Dressing up

Right, bit of an odd question this one, but can you tell me if this could be linked to autism at all please?

My 5y old son (HFA according to paed) he has a big thing about dressing up. It's always as Judoon (Dr Who) or some other monstrous creature. Well anyway, he'll come downstairs and talk in this weird croaky voice and deny that he is Tom and tell us that he really is Judoon, and I really think he believes that he's fooled us. He'll at some point go out of the room and reappear as Tom and will tell us that Judoon was there and he's killed him/scared him off etc. He does this A LOT!!

This is one thing I never mentioned to the paed... but as he does it so frequently I just wondered if it could be linked.

Ta.

Not sure. It suggests a good imagination at any rate . Could be that he has difficulty separating reality from fiction, which might be relevant now he's older, but I'm not sure. I had a very good imagination as a child (though imaginative play apparently came a little later from the age of 6 or so) but I was always myself. Others will have a better idea. If he does this a lot it might be the start of an obsession.
Ds1 has this Iggle Piggle toy which has a blanket. The toy speaks and asks you to hide the blanket from Iggle Piggle. Ds1 places it over his (Ds1's) face to cover his eyes. That's him hiding you see .

Oh he's definitely got a brilliant imagination bullet!!

He does have a DR Who obsession anyway, and various others too (his most recent one is all about when he's 18 and is going to live on a houseboat with 6 dogs on the boating lake and be a rock star and I'll be dead and then he will be happy .... he talks constantly about this)

The iggle piggle thing your lad does sounds SO cute!! . I remember Tom thinking we couldn't see him if he covered his eyes. Aww

Off to bed now, night x
