Shoes success!

Hi

Over the past few months I have been having sooooo many problems with DS1 (6 with sensory issues) and his shoes. He is super sensitive and his shoes and socks have to be just so. He feels ridges where none seem to exist and is always moaning that shoes are too loose.

As a consequence, velcro is out. I found a pair of Timberland boots which helped but he would fuss about socks and they were a nightmare to lace up.

Getting dressed for school would take forever, were often late and there were tears and tantrums

Until recently.....

On holiday a few weeks back I saw some lace up Sketcher skateboarding shoes. Not school regulation, but they looked comfy and snug.

He loves them and wears them without a moan every day. School don't care as long as he's happy and he is ...every day...getting dressed without problem (although he'll only wear the same pair of socks!!!).

It has changed my life and I wanted to share it in case it helps anyone else. Lace ups seem to the be the key because he can pull them snug but there are so few lace up shoes around for children of that age. These have really worked so far

OH that's Brill

Now..if you could also find me shoes and socks that aren't 'too tight' (but don't fall off his feet) and that he would put on without a ten minute ritual of taking off and putting on,taking off and putting on (or sometimes refusing altogether or screaming in frustration)...i will love you forever

These were recommended at a recent nas 'help' course
I think i might order one pair ...and try them. If they are a goer i'll let you know.
