Ive recently noticed that ds3.8 has mild CP has started to get stuck and repeats the same word a few times and then carries on. Is it a phase hes going through (kids thing) or should I inform his OT advice pls

was he late speaking? this can be a normal phase with NT toddlers, so it may be that it is part of the normal developmental speech pattern, just a bit later. dd2 was a very late talker (also cp) and this phase lasted six months or so for her. both my nt dcs did this at around 2 1/2...

there are speech disorders where repetition features, but if you have noticed no other issues with speech (eg word order/ echoing your speech etc) then i don't think you need to worry immediately. do you have a slt? if not, it would be a good idea to ask for a referral to put your mind at rest. (if you meant slt not ot lol, then just give her a call, i'm sure it's nothing to worry about)

My son has started doing this too! He is 5 now and only really began to talk a year ago. I think he does it when his brain is going too fast for his mouth and he has to slow down and think about what he was trying to say. Our SLT doesn't seem bothered.
