melatonin and violence as a side effect?!

ben has always self harmed and been violent but it has been worse for quite a while, and we think it may be the melatonin as after a recent dose increase of it as it was not working well again he got worse again, so are thinking of risking the lack of sleep and stopping it to see so just wondering if anyone else has found this and how long did it take to get out of their system and to notice if it was the malatonin making their behaviour/violence worse??

thanks in advance for any advice/input

Would very much doubt that melatonin was causing the problem. It induces drowiness and sleep - quite the reverse effect.

i know the initial paediatrician said it was a possibility, and it does say that on the leaflet with it so im gathering it is a possible effect, got a friend whose dd was the same on it but they stopped it after just a few weeks and another friend who did the same too, bens been on it a year so not sure how quickly it would show in side effects if i stop it.
