dd4 is SN , and we always thought ds4 was OK. turns out that ds4 is to be assessed with a salt as well because he cant pronounce his words properly. this is very mild compared to dd4 and hes NT, but am hoping that we get double appointments with the salt. it would make things a lot easier if i had only one set to keep.... does anyone know if this happens? or will i need a different salt altogether? dd4 has suspected autism , so her salt is about getting her to communicate(she's making slow improvements. but ds needs are a bit different....any suggestions?

i would imagine your dd would be seen by SALT who is qualified to deal with ASD where as your ds could be seen by a SALT who is not generally would probably be seen on 1-1 basis

not sure if thye could be seen together as your dd needs would need more 1-1 i would have thought

i guess all you could do is phone and ask really ds has ASD and they prefer him to be seen as 1-1 as his needs are more and is easily distracted etc

tried to phone dd4's salt and couldnt get her to ask. but did get hold of the hv and shes going to find fiona the salt and ask her for me, so hopefully i will find out if i can get double appointments! thanks bubblagirl!

quick update! just spoke to salt on the phone, (fiona , she's fab) and she said that she'll mostly have "little chats" with ds4 when she's seeing dd4, and the occasional appointment just to keep him on top of things.She is suggesting that ds4 has a very slight pronunciation problems, and that he should be encouraged to talk as much as possible, making a game out of it( eye spy ect).but mainly that he should grow out of it by 5 or 6 ! yee-hah!
