eye drops

N E 1 have N E ideas on how 2 get eye drops into a strong aggressive 8 year old with down syndrome who doesn't like 2 b touched.

Forgot to say without using force as he is pinned down by a couple of adults to do most tasks.

Don't do what we did!
Got DH to sit down on kitchen stool with DD, holding her tight. She freaked and threw herself backwards and the pair of them smashed the glass safety door of my oven into a thousand pieces...
Ahem.
At the time, people suggested lying your DC down on a sofa, perh. using cushions/pillows to hold them in place if that's more comfortable. You certainly need at least two adults to do this...
Difficult though, my DD is younger and not so strong as an 8 year old. You have my sympathy if nothing else!!

Its what I do. DD has to have chloriphenicol (sp?) drops lots cos she doesn't shut her eyes propery

When I had to have them for a month after eye surgery, my mum got me to close my eyes, she dripped the stuff right in the corner, when I opened my eyes I blinked them in. Although I was fully co-operative so that might not work for you.

PS: I have an utter terror of eye drops after one hospital doctor literally forced my eye open with one hand and squirted with the other!

Thanks for the replies. I found it easier to pin him on the floor so 2 can hold him down, but we do this for his teeth brushed and didn't want to confuse him by doing his eyes this way as he is severe learning disability also (functions around 18 months).
Tried in his sleep also although he isn't a good sleeper anyway so by the time I opened his padded cell (bed) he was stirring, opened his eye and then in the battle hit his nose. Cheers anyway.
