Lottie

Our waiting list here in NI is also about 18 months - we have filled the blue form out and I did expect to have an appointement some time in May but haven't heard anything yet.

Ive been very lucky as my son was diagnosed by a doctor in London who specialises in deaf adhd children........that was about 18 months ago and my ds has gone from strength to strength........i feel very sorry for those who have to wait so long.

Yes, on the one hand I want it to be over and done with - the Ed Psyc has already told us that he feels ds2 is, so a dx won't be unexpected but the thought of dipping into all the negativity and then the decision making around meds, which is likely, scares me tbh.

My ds is on a very low (if not the lowest) dose of ritalin. (5mg twice a day) It has made a tremendous difference. I now have to make the decision if i want medication for myself for Adult ADHD.

Lottie do you feel like you need medication? It depends on how much your condition is affecting your life ... seriously.

Lottie, I read that & must say was't surprised. IME anything that can be dealt with Pre-school via champ (as was)is very good. Although they have one psych on long term sick atm so are struggling.
But school age children seem to go on to a never ending waiting list.

I didnt have a very good experience with champ My ds went through there twice and they missed him being deaf on both occasions!
