With DH cancers its kinda got put to back burner but never forgotten. How long should I have to wait for CDC to be in touch for a referal for AS? Its been weeks now, and im wondering weather to chase up.

Lisa sorry to hear about your DH.
It depends on the area I would think. It took 2 months for DS2 to be seen by the CDC in the North East. I think hospitals have to give you an appointment within 14 weeks now.How long have you been waiting?

Oh wait, just reread your post. I'd chase it after 4 weeks.

I'ld chase it right now, as at least you would expect some sort of acknowledgment they have received the referral. And then when you get them on the phone you can ask what normal procedure/wait time is.

Hi, it took us about 8 weeks to get an appointment but I chased it after 5. I also made sure the referral letter had been sent. Stranger things have happened than for these things to go astray

Sorry about your dh. Hope he's doing ok

it's a complete postcode lottery with this sort of thing I'm afraid, it took 13 months(!) for DS to be seen

hi ours took 3 months from raising concerns with gp who referred to pcamhs they took 6 weeks to decide they need more info. but suddenly got a call from camhs and an appointment two days later, i do have an excellant gp who was chasing for me . so 3 months in all x

LoveBuckets · 06/04/2009 20:44

Ours was a year, DS was 2 and a bit when we started. GP referred us to SALT, 3m later saw SALT who referred us to development paed, took 3m to see her, she referred to autism assessment unit, took 5m to get there. Assessment program involved 5 weekly play sessions and a parent interview before DX.

Good luck with everything. Chase every month no matter what you're waiting for.
