i have applied to the family fund for a grant to do up my garden so ds2 can play outside, and a holiday for us all because the last time we went away was to haven for four days in 2004. the woman came to visit me today and says that she is satisfied with what i have asked for, but has to submit a report to the trust concerned so they can decide if ds2's disability is severe enough to warrant a grant. does anyone have any experience with family fund and could let me know what possible outcome will be please?

We applied to the family fund a couple of years ago for a trike. They were fantastic! The lady who came round was lovely (I suspected she had noticed my son's epilepsy before we became aware of it- hindsight talking!) She said the same as your visitor - that she was happy with everything we had told her etc. They gave us the money for the trike, but unfortunately, we had received confirmation from another charity the day before. The family fund were brilliant - they gave us the money for a holiday instead of for the trike!
Brilliant experiance! Good luck!

any more experiences please? ds2 has a dx of dyspraxia with possible as/hfa. the reason i have apllied to do the garden up is so he can play outside without me having to watch him constantly- he has two younger sisters and i need to be able to do stuff with them too. he cant play out in the street as we live on a main road and he ahs no road sense at all- he got hit by a car last summer in front of our house when he wasnt even meant to be outside, he just ran out in front of it. and we have not been on a proper family holiday since the two girls came along, just the four days at haven in 2004.
