has anyone else asked for a second opion and got it.

y ds devlopment paed only sees him for 15 mins rushed session before 6 monthly meetings and i think she`s missing lots of things, is playing the wait and see game ,

I am prety sure hes on the spectrum somewhere, but becuase hes laid back in lots of ways she wants o give him time to mature , so shes stuck him with a gdd tag and wont even look or consider anything else

so thinking of looking for 2nd opinon anyone else requested and got one

What is the distinguishing characteristic of GDD ? Must the child have physical as well as cognitive delays ? Sorry if I'm asking the wrong question, I know very little about GDD.

what age is he?

my dd1 was given a gdd tag initially, at 20 months.

I think it is still part of her dx, but tbh it doesn't really apply, as she is not globally delayed (and never really was)

I was lucky, and by 2.6 we had her ASD dx, and this is mostly due to the fac tthat we never saw the same paed twice (community paed, changed every 6 months in our old area), and the 3rd one she saw (having complained aboout the 2nd one, who was not qualified (by her own admission) to carry out the assessment she was trying to do).

that paed was really pro-active, and listened when we said we weren't being listened to, and got things moving for dd1.

so, although we didn't request a second opinion, we in effect had one, and it worked for us (first paed we saw told me I should be thankful that dd1 wasn't sitting in the corner of the room rocking . And so wasn't interested inlooking any furhter. What she wasn't to know was that dd1 spent most of her time like that at home so her "helpful words" didn't help me much)
