I read that story too and it really hit me because her tone is so matter of fact, no drama, kind of makes it worse

Of course yr not being silly in empathising with the desperately tragic news of Ivan Cameron, and are affected by sad, emotive stories you read (I'm avoiding yr link myself cos what you describe is very real for us also with dd and I think I prefer my state of semi denial / ignorance)
