I have just heard on the radio that David Cameron's son Ivan has died.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family...

I have just heard and am sitting here crying... I received a lovely letter a few years ago from DC.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 25/02/2009 11:34

I feel so overwhelmed by this sad news. My own dd has CP but not epilepsy (as yet) but so many of the children we see at the centre we go to who are similar to little Ivan Cameron. They are friends, not children with CP or epilepsy. Even if they can't talk or sometimes even communicate at all their personalities shine through and I know how much joy little Ivan gave to all of his family. So sad and my heart goes out to all of the Cameron family at this time. As parents of children with SN we are all trained to be so god damn upbeat all of the time, we have to or some days we wouldn't be able to get out of bed in the morning. It comes like a huge slap in the face to be faced with the fact that Ivan's condition ended his life early. .

PheasantPlucker · 25/02/2009 11:46

Totally agree HBOB x

heartinthecountry · 25/02/2009 11:56

I was in a meeting when I heard and had to stop myself welling up. Ivan is the same age as dd1 and I remember reading an article David Cameron wrote (before anyone had really heard of him!) about his son early on. Always felt a strange affinity.

Davros · 25/02/2009 12:07

No doubt some "well meaning" people will say its for the better. I feel devastated, of course it makes us all FEEL (not think) about how vulnerable, dependent and individual our special children are and how much they need us.

mm22bys · 25/02/2009 12:13

I can't stop crying either. I feel a certain affinity with him too.

We don't know how long DS2 will be with us and this has really brought it home to me.

My thoughts and prayers are with them.

on the parliamentary channel all the parties were just paying their respects to the Camerons and they have suspended prime ministers questions for the day, i think Gordon Brown will be feeling it too after losing Jennifer at such a young age, so sad
