Hello - we met at Charnock Richard service station ages ago! How are you?
Was wondering if you could help me.
We have seen the eye specialist today, and every time we go, he tells us that he doesn't think DS2 has 'classic' CP. DS2 has CP symptoms, which have been diagnosed as triplegia, epilepsy and various eye problems which all don't link up together. He is in close consultation with our neurologist who agrees with him. He is now going to refer us to the geneticists.
He brought something up today, and laboured on it rather a lot, as if he was trying to point us in the right direction - he knows we are dealing with a solicitor.
When DS2 was 8 weeks old (he was 5 weeks early, so adjusted age = 3 weeks) he was given a dose of rectal diazepam as a 'stupid' member of staff thought he was having a seizure. I distinctly remember a neurologist going beserk at this, and this has also stuck in the doctor's head that we saw today. Do you think that this could have caused the problems DS2 is now having? I know it's a huge ask, and I can't give you all the proper details, but I don't even know if there are any long term side effects of diazepam, espcially in a 3 week old baby. Any opinions would be gratefully receieved.
Nat.
