Putting everything in mouth - help

Ds1 has ASD, he's 9. Has just started putting everything in his mouth again, used to do this when he was much younger & lick everything (including mirrors, windows, shopping trolleys) but hadnt noticed it for ages & thought he had grown out of it. We have a sand timer & it wouldnt work because the sand was all clogged up & he admitted it was because he keeps putting it in his mouth. Anyone else had this with a 9 year old?

No.

My DS is 2 and he still eats everything.

How did you get him to stop originally?

He had really bad impetigo and we just had to take everything off him before it got near his mouth. It's a few years ago now. I explained to him his sore mouth wouldnt get better if he kept doing it & it seemed to work
