This is really shocking and it's hard to believe that such ridiculous people exist:

The people who have dared to complain about this female presenter ought to take a long and hard look at themselves in the mirror.

ouryve · 23/02/2009 14:37

Typical bloody Daily Mail. Misinformed Daily! Bigoted Daily!

My kids (2 and 5) do notice differences and both have stared at the screen a bit but don't seem traumatised at all (insert ironic eyeroll here). If DS1 did say anything than that would purely be a teaching moment.

(I wouldn't be sad to see Alex go, mind. He's as wooden as hell.)

MannyMoeAndJack · 23/02/2009 14:44

Why is the DM misinformed and bigoted for running this article? Genuine question.

The Jeremy Vine radio show had a discussion about this earlier today and JV was very pleased to report that all the emails he'd received were positive about the presenter and that the senders had expressed how appalled they were about the complaints.

I was watching Ready Steady Cook the other night, and didn't even notice that one of the cooks on the show only had one arm, till the presenter brought it up!

I was too busy watching her flirt with Gianni what's his face to notice her arm..

These parents are a worry....

DS1 was born with much the samw. He is 9 now but I'm glad I didn't read all these comments from narrow minded people when he was younger or I when he started school I would have imagined all the other children being scared of him!!

As it happens, all the other children just wanted to help him!

surprisenumber3 · 23/02/2009 15:43

samw same

thecloudhopper · 23/02/2009 16:45

OK its different but we are all different wouldnt the world be BORING if we are all the same. How would these complaing parent cope if their next child was born with something tthat made their child 'different'? Would they love them any less.

What a stupid noncence.

Just shows the narrow mindedness of some people in this world.

Hello
I am a journalist at the Times (and mumsnet user!). We are hoping to do a piece on this story, and ideally do it through the voice of a mother of a physically disabled child. If you have a disabled child, or know someone who has, and would like to talk about how increased visibility can only help, could you contact me at [email protected] asap? Thank you!

JustineMumsnet · 23/02/2009 17:27

NB we gave claritita permission to post this up folks

terrible. I posted a comment also

TotalChaos · 23/02/2009 17:43

I went to Tumble Tots once - it was rubbish - as first half was chat and sing song, second half was making kids go round a little "assault" course in a set order. so lots of queueing and regimentation - obviously it will vary from place to place, but the one I went to would not IMO have been ideal for SN as too inflexible (though there did seem to be a kid with SN there with a helper to be fair). The council gym one I went to was much better, as the kids got 1/2 hour free play on big trampolines and other gym equipment, and parents could assist to a degree, and once everyone was knackered there was a sing-song under a parachute.

anyway back to main post - depressing article.

I agree with Fio.

lol at riven and tumbletots.

MannyMoeAndJack · 23/02/2009 18:49

Riven, I bet you'd like a chance to bump into that parent who complained about your dd - or even the organiser; after all, how many other disabled kids has s/he allowed to be thrown out since your incident?? I can't imagine how you must've felt as you left the room. Shame on all those other adults who were also present and were watching/participating in the 'complaint'.

OP posts:
2shoes · 23/02/2009 18:51

realised my comment could sound odd, I meant about the 109 yers(as it is the kind of think I would say) not the shoddy way riven's dd was treated

5inthebed · 23/02/2009 20:31

Riven that is really horrible . Can't imagine how you must have felt.

I hope that after the article Cerrie doesn't leave, as it would be a shame. She may have been wooden to start with, but she (and Alex) are coming into their own now.
