Unfortunately my 1-9 doesnt cover these, so if anyone would be so kind:

'fixed' as in "not broken anymore"
'grapes'
'strawberry'
'toast'
'dummy' as in "soother"
'goat'
'burger'
'bat' as in flying thing not the game stick
'rocket'
'robot'

'dinosaur' is that a version of "monster"?
'helicopter' or stick with "plane"?
'fox' or should i just sign "dog" as hes only 2?

Im sorry thats a right ole list! but im finding it difficult to keep up with DS5's thirst for new words from his favourite books.

thanks!

atm were using bread for toast , so be good to know

RaggedRobin · 10/02/2009 21:56

i can give you the bsl, if that's any use. they are really hard to describe so i hope they make sense!!!!

fixed: both hands with fingers and thumbs meeting at one point. bring two hands together at fingertips and twist each hand alternately at the wrist.

grapes: one hand holds an imaginary bunch of grapes by a stalk. the other hand follows the shape of imaginary bunch of grapes, coming to a point with fingertios touching thumb at the bottom.

strawberry: index finger of one hand points horizontally to second hand. second hand grasps the fingertip of pointing finger.

toast: both hands point downwards, one hand in front of the other (palms of hands facing signer) as though they are slices of bread going into a toaster

dummy: never used, but i assume it would be bunched fingertips to the mouth

goat: agian, i'm guessing it would be bunched fingertips pulling at imaginary goat beard from the chin

burger: imaginary big burger in hand held to mouth

bat: i'd do a sign like butterfly but facing the other way (ie butterfly, thumbs entwined hands like flapping wings, palms facing signer; bat = thumbs entwined, hands like flapping wings palms facing away from the signer)

rocket: fingertips of both hands meeting at a point, and blasting off!

robot: make like an 80's dancer!!!

dinosaur: sorry, i'd have to check that one

helicopter: index finger pointing up and moving round in circles

fox: hand pulls an imaginary snout shape from nose area, bringing fingertips to a point facing the nose.

oooft.... i'd be surprised if any of that makes ANY sense!!!!!
