that DD has today been on the potty AND the toilet a total of 6 yes thats 6 TIMES

Those of you who know me on here will know the struggle we,ve been having since she was 2.5 to get her toilet trained (shes 5 in April) the trouble we had with nursery who were forcing her (against her will) to go on the potty, which resulted in us writing to the head of SEN and she got it stopped.

so we have seen the clinical psych once, and she has seen DD once in school.

DD would not entertain anything she would ask her and we were giving up hope again.

BUT in the last week shes been watching Jon and Kate plus 8, and its been showing the sextuplets potty training, she has been rewinding it over and over and today decided she wanted to do what the little girls do.

i ordered her a Dora potty chart which has gone down really well and hey presto shes done it.

Am really really proud of her, shes on the spectrum and has a lot of sensory issues and has done so well to get this far.

Brilliant!!!!Well done to your clever DD, proud must be an understatement

BriocheDoree · 04/02/2009 21:14

That's brilliant! Frankly I can feel your pain because DD has been toilet training for 2 years and although basically there still has frequent accidents (e.g. pooing in pants at school) so I know how good it feels when it's actually working. Well done to your DD and lets hope she can keep it up!

she went on it twice this morning!!

she doesnt want to go on the schools toilet yet,but thats ok,if she starts going it at home where she feels comfortable then we are happy with that.

ive just been out and bought her some disney princess and night garden knickers, she has agreed to wear knickers for half an hour tonight.

hereidrawtheline-yes unfortunately her nursery were horrible, they were making her sit on the potty against her will, they then wrote to various different professionals telling them different accounts of what she could and couldnt do,we took them to task though and involved the head of SEN,she stopped the forced toileting and got the nursery to write to the professionals telling them all the same thing.

her school are brilliant though and are working with us every step of the way.
