Why doesnt Ds "sing" or smell?

A have read quite few posts about children with ASD "singing" and preferring to "sing" than talk and humming etc. DS has never attempted to sing or hum or dance either. He also doesn't smell things. why would that be? He is non 3.9 and non verbal.

There are lots of cliches about autism. My DS1 is not a great singer either though can join a nursery rythme with a few words. I don't think you can read much into it one way or the other. DS1 not much interested in smell either so snap there.
