Recieved a letter today saying we have been awarded £3,417.50 towards a car. It says Advance payment of £2595.00 and Dealer option-air conditioning of £822.50. I have searched the motability site and can't find a car that tallies with those figures Confused

I also have to pay £200 towards the car so it totals £3617.50

would love to tell you......but it sound as clear as mud, give them a ring they are really nice.

will phone them on monday, I need to get my car ordered as the zafira goes back at the end of march and we all know how long they take Have looked online at all the large MPVs and have decided to look at the Volkwagen Caddy and the Multipla. They have the biggest boot spaces with the 6-7 seats up. The rodius isn't on the scheme atm, which I am gutted about as it would have been ideal..

Thanks Herbie, I am very confused by the figures as there isn't a car with an advance payment of £2795 or one with £3617 either I want a car that doesn't have the seats right in the boot (after watching a video on Mn the other day on crash tests on the Zafira and the back rear seats, scary stuff) So want a car that can take a pram and a wheelchair easily and still has space. We have struggled with the Zafira for just over a year, since Ds2 was born and I hate it

We have the Rodius as you know- Do you know its not on the scheme at the moment? We looked at the VW Transporter aswell-it was our 2nd choice. The seating layout wasnt ideal for ds1 but its well worth looking at.

glitteryb6 · 01/02/2009 12:15

could they have awarded you for one of the larger van/minibus wheelchair access vehicles rather than a car maybe, there are a few round about those prices?

SparklyGothKat · 01/02/2009 12:24

We have been awarded the grant for a LArge MPV, we have searched, googled and driven ourselves mad since last night, and have decided to the volkwagon caddy it has 7 seats, a large boot and sliding doors, just what we want..

MMM, the rodius have been removed from the scheme, but will be back on at the end of the month, they are repricing it.. Not sure whether to wait a few weeks and get that instead now.

OP posts:
glitteryb6 · 01/02/2009 13:31

the rodius is huge compared to the volkswagon, much bigger boot space too, might be best to hang on for that?

SparklyGothKat · 01/02/2009 15:50

the car doesn't go back till 1st april. so can wait, they will allow me to keep the zafira if it not arrived in time. But with them repricing it, I don't know what the price will be now

here
and here might help hasnt goot sliding doors but its the best car we found. Sliding doors would make it perfect!!!

monstermansmum · 01/02/2009 20:20

that should be got not 'goot' and I forgot to say that I would wait if I were you.

SparklyGothKat · 01/02/2009 20:23

its not actually on the scheme atm, but as the volkwagon and the ssangyong garages are in the same town 13 miles from us we are going to look at both, and work out what to do, they may have increased their prices too much anyway, the caddy is a close second in our choice...

thats a 9 seater! had a look on the renault website, the boot looks HUGE with the back 3 seats folded forward.....you could get a small house in it!

SparklyGothKat · 02/02/2009 16:55

I know, have an appointment to look at it on wednesday, and the man said we can drive it home to see if it fits on the drive, I am very worried about the size of it.. lol

OP posts:
glitteryb6 · 02/02/2009 17:22

well at least they listened to your request for lots of seats and a huge boot this time!

SparklyGothKat · 02/02/2009 17:34

yes they went from a small 7 seater to a HUGE thing lol!!! Oh well we need the space, and it looks comfy, but a bit worried about the fuel costs

mobility grants cover what you need Riven, even if its £13,000.

I spoke to one of the volkwagen garages yesterday and they don't have the Caddy there, but 'if you want a golf, we can help' I pmsl at that, imagine me and dh, 2 disabled kids and 1 baby plus dd2 in a golf!!!!!
