am no expert (!) but on the singing hands dvd () they do cloud as hands held palm out, at chest height, then describe a cloud shape (think typical cloud shape) moving up either side of body and above head.

the dvd is makaton endorsed...

shirt - pretend to pull collar round neck and do UP buttons

misscutandstick · 28/01/2009 18:27

cocolepew · 28/01/2009 18:30

Anyone got 'marry' at their fingertips?

OP posts:
mm22bys · 28/01/2009 19:59

Have to admit that I found it really bizarre that two of the very first signs we learnt were for chapati and dahl - we don't eat them very often (at all ) in our house (though obviously enough people do to make it so "common"!).

Three signs I do need to know are:

change
nappy
wet

whitenoise · 28/01/2009 20:05

its not in my book Moondog - sorry.

Sounds like you did the same course i did mm

Had got a bit rusty as we obviously didn't use every sign so dusted down the manual for DS3 so that he can communicate before he talks (does that make sense??)

moondog · 28/01/2009 20:39

No, not im mine either.
Yes,I have a lot of issues with Makaton and the order in which they teach the signs too.

was told marry is point to 3rd finger left hand.

hmm we never did nappy only toilet

moondog · 28/01/2009 20:49

Thanks Phoenix-hoped it was that as planned to use it tomorrow..

supportman · 28/01/2009 21:35

Lets see...

Nappy = 'Fingers snap closed onto thumbs against side of body.' (and from the picture it looks like it is being done at roughly the level of the navel)

Wet = 'Fingers of bent hand open and close onto thumb several times. Two hands can be used.'

Change = 'Closed hands circle backwards round each other.' (on picture done just infront of the body)

Coat and hat are as susspected and just miming of the actions you would use to put them on.

Don't want to interfere, but in my book Pheonix's description is the sign for husband/wife and there is another sign for the actuall ceremony which = 'Right flat hand brushes upwards along left fingers, then circles back to land on back of left hand.' Sorry for sticking my nose in and just tell me to shut up!

Sidge · 28/01/2009 21:38

Hat - both hands either side of head moving down, as if pulling a beanie hat down.

Nappy - I can't describe it so look here!
