Ooh, I'd be interested in hearing about this too as there's a big centre close to where I live.

hi! Sorry for my late reply, I haven't been on mumsnet.

  • I have to go to a centre to do it. It is 10 days for 2 hours each day, after 6 weeks a second course, and after another 6 weeks a third course of therapy (I believe this third course is optional).
  • How did I decide on this one?
Tclanger mentioned on previous threads how well her DS's speech had progressed with the sound learning centre therapy. I don't live in the UK and it would have been really expensive for me to go there for therapy. So I investigated alternatives near me. I asked the Tomatis people to put me in contact with another family to see if the investment was justified, this family has a son with mild autism and they were over the moon with the results so I decided to go ahead.

-How much does it cost?
It is expensive (isn't everything!). It is costing us $1000 euros (this course, I have to pay again for the next one).

From what I have seen and heard, children will respond differently. Some will benefit more than others. In our case, DS's speech has really improved (and he is sleeping better). I cannot be certain if his speech was going to improve this much anyway, but my feeling is that the therapy is helping.

Hope that helps.
