Looking for bed ideas for DS2...

Hello,

DS2 has managed to fall out of his cot three times in the last week, so we need to find a new, safer sleeping solution for him, and thought you might have some ideas!

He is 26 months old, around the same age we put DS1 into a normal bed. DS2 would crawl around it though, and would fall out. Also I know that if a bed had a bedrail he would pull himself up on it and topple over (which is what happened when he fell out of his cot).

Tonight we've put his cot mattress on the floor, but I am looking for some better ideas, and thought you may have some!

Thanks

Well he could just carry on sleeping on a mattress on the floor couldn't he?

I know a friend whose 3rd DC does that because he kept falling out of a normal bed and he was happy on the floor, so why not?

Looked a little odd when we were shown round but otherwise no probs.

I guess he could! Cheapest, safest option!

Don't feel so bad about it now, thanks!

Yes we resorted to the bed on the floor for a while because ds had started vaulting head first over the top. Then dh made a very low bed using the cot base and put a little lip on it (like a ships bed) to reduce rolling out of bed. We put a thick mat next to it and his bedroom had a high gate. If you make a bed remember to very well round off all edges and check for finger and potential neck traps!!
