nappies help please!!

my little darling is far too big for size 6's from every shop though weve been making do hopinghe wqould be ready for potty training but now they are getting tighter and tighter and he is still a long way off so need to find something bigger but dont know where to start. we have to buy them ourselves as around here its 4 before the health visitor can refer you for them. ben was 3 in november but is in mostly 4-5 clothes now and growing loads! where does everyone get theirs from? are they any good? as we need them night and day i dont really want to get the pajama pants type ones at it will cost us a fortune!

my ds has been in lidl's pullups since he grew out of all nappies, they are the largest size and have lots of stretch, very easy to get and inexpensive. They hold a lot of pee and are comfortable... he would still fit in them now at 4.7 (he is a good size, probably average but solidly built), he has been able to get past his last hurdle on the toilet front... I have some in a drawer and no use for them if you want some samples!

I have heard the size 6 tesco traditional nappies are generous. On the pull up front easyups seem to be soft and stretchy but no longer fit my skinny 9 year old. Bigger nappies ( size 7, xs or 25KG+) can be bought on the internet (and in hypermarkets in France and Norway ) but it costs a fortune ( 50p - £1 each). I have not got on well wth drynights (leak) but order in clarity sleep pants (pull up in youth sizes). Boots do a s/m adult pull up but they are huge and pricy.

so seems an expensive time then!! aefondkiss that would be great if you wouldnt mind - im pretty new to mumsnet so no idea how to message you or pay you but if you want to email me that wouldbe easiest i guess shal i put email up or is there an easier way on here??

i know someone who lives in norway so maybe thats a possibility to ask him to bring me some over next time he comes to the uk - he is a friend of my mums who works here sometimes?!?! hmmm thats worth thinking about though not sure if its a long term solution it would help in the meantime! where opn the internet can anyone recommend?

Speak to your health visitor - if your DS has special needs (only asking because you have posted in 'special needs') then ask your health visitor. I received free nappies (and then pull-ups) via the incontinence service for my DD from the age of 3. She was in them until she turned nearly 5. They used to deliver 3 boxes (each containing 18 pack of nappies, if I recall correctly) and they were very good. Libero was the name and they were as good as Pampers/Huggies but fitted my DD to a 'tee' (she was also large for her age).

Have you tried adding a booster pad (from boots) for overnight use - can make the leg leak though and tighter. I will try and remember the brand names for norway. Others on here used to use them. I would have thought if you need a bigger size its worth asking the health visitor again- after all it is an unusual situation -but we are still struggling and ds (sn) is 9 though mostly out of nappies by daytime at last.

Have you tried all the Tesco range jennybensmummy? The Baby Essentials Size 6 (green pack) seem to be larger than the rest. Having similar problems as DD has outgrown Pampers etc but still too small for most of the standard adult continence range so we've been trying all sorts.

Curity sleep pants/youth pull ups are similar to Huggies drynights but are more absorbent seewww.betterlifehealthcare.com/view_product.php?prodID=5317 cost approx 50p. (Not available on the NHS though apparently)
Found Attends slip(nappies) good for night use see www.attends.co.uk. The Attends Sip 9 Extra Small approx 50p. They will send out samples if you give them a call.
Just been given some Libero Night Comfort to try which are very similar to Curity but slightly larger in fit - magso please note! (Medium size 20-37kg large 35-60kg)

My 6yr old DS wears Lidls pull ups so I think they should fit. They are very absorbant, in the morning the nappy is very full but it is very rare that it leaks. They are also not too expensive, about 3.20 for 20.

I was going to do a post on this at some point. My ds2 is still in nappies, and finding it hard to get them to fit him. Pull ups are no good as he has really big wees (pisses like a racehorse if you want) and they fall down as he has no bum (like his daddy).
I've never tried Lidls, and not even sure there is one near me. Must hunt one down. I also didnt realise your HV can get you free nppies. Must speak to mine when I go get ds3 weighed.
Yet again, this forum has proved to be so informative. Why dont the "specialists" tell you all this stuff when you see them

our health visitor cant get them here until a child is 4 - annoying really as bens needs mean he needs them its not like im just a lazy mum!! he has no awareness of wet dry etc etc. i am not sure if we have a lidl near here so may look into those if we do. the tesco ones are the ones we have now though and they are too tight!! he is a chunky little chap!

just re-read and yes its the green pack tesco ones were using!! will look at link soon, thanks, just got to go and chase ben downstairs again as taps sound to be on so another flood i think! will come back on later and check those other ones and aso where lidl is near me, thanks so much x

( Thanks Reiver I have read about (libero web site) the libero night comfort but not got my hands on them yet I think betterlife will soon supply them! Libero junior ( nappy style not pull up)( 25kg +) is what we got in France - also work out at aprox 50p. Something like Up and go size 7 in Norway.

jennybensmum, e-mail me but they would be for free, they are an opened packet, I keep them in a drawer so would just parcel them up, would be glad to see them being used, rather than wasted! It would cost nothing to post them.
