Can't believe I have to fill in the form and it aint up till May!!!!

Have had the form a month now

Not sure whether to hold it back and submit it nearer the time or just do it now. Thing is if I do it now will the current award be affected if theres any changes?

Do it now. they can take a long, long time to process these forms, and so you risk missing out on payments if yours expires in the interim.

You would be able to get back payments, but it's a right faff. Easier to do the form now IMO.

thanks

I have filled it in just worried if i send it and they decide to reduce his rate then it will be with immediate effect instead of when its due for renewal in may

No the reduction should happen after the date in May. That's what we found anyway and it also works the same way if it goes up!

ds renewal isnt due till May either, i got the form in on the Friday, filled it in on the Sunday and posted it on Monday, on Thursday i got a letter from them saying..

"A short time ago we sent you a claim pack to fill in to claim DLA again. We have not got the pack back yet"

Talk about impatient!

Ds1's DLA rate changed when it was renewed and they only made the change once his existing award had run out.

His was increased though so I don't know whether that makes a difference.
