I've posted this in Preschool as well, but hope that some of you may also be able to help. I've been asked to help source some books for our preschool - they are having trouble identifying books to buy which include children with disabilities/special needs. We're not looking for books about special needs, per se - more 'general stories featuring characters who happen to have a special need. Does that make sense?

Any titles to help us get started would be very gratefullly received - I'm researching in lieu of sending in a Christmas pressie

Thanks TotalChaos. I've managed to find a few others on Amazon now as well, using 'People who bought this also bought...'

It's given me a great start - thanks again.

We have, and love, Where's Chimpy? which features a little girl with Down's who is looking for her toy monkey. Also, Friends at School. We got them both from Amazon.

forest bookshop sells books with deaf characters in them, some of them for pre-schoolers.

I love 'looking after louis' not a pre school book but a simple story with lovely pictures about louis and how he fits in at school.
