Went to a faculty disabled students forum at uni today. Really good to hear others views etc but...

I feel like we're second class citizens.

Example: all staff who come into contact with me regularly, are meant to have undergone disability awareness training in relation to visual impairment.

This doesn't appear to have happened, because, the faculty doesn't have the money to provide all the training that's needed. So I'm going to email my lecturer and ask if he's had any, just to check.

I have that in writing in my support plan.

Every issue someone raised, it came down to money.

Money is the reason some students are waiting for help/specialist equipment and why their grades could suffer.

Equality? Not yet there ain't!

Sorry, had to say it. For me, the uni have been really good, but for others it's so frustrating that lack of funds is threatening their education.

That's really frustrating - especially since a funding issue also must have involved some prioritising. Keep making your voices heard so that when things are being prioritised, your needs are high up on that list.
