ASD unit or keep DD in mainstream

Looks like we may have the last space at local ASD unit for DD i was really excited about it as she is in yr 2 now and she can stay there till yr6, there is only 12 children and 4 adults, very similar to nurture unit DD was in last year ( and extremely difficult to get a space). But since she has gone back to mainstream after half term DD seems much more settled and everything has improved, which has throwen me some what as to whether to move her or not, we have an interim review meeting next tuesday, when we have to say whether we want to move DD or not, if we do decide to move her she will not start till easter as it is a new unit and they are settling one child in at a time before another one starts, I do realise how lucky we are to be offered this place so why am i having second thouhts.

take the place now. if she does amazingly well in the run up to easter, it's going to be easier to stay in m/s than the reverse way round.

I agree with TC. Say yes to the place. If dd carries on doing well you can always change your mind nearer the time.

Hi Karen, take the place (if you don't I'll have it ). I agree with TC you can always change your mind later. Glad L is doing well. Speak soon xxxx

Thanks everyone I know deep down we need to go for it, as we won't get this chance again, just having a wobbly moment and worrying about changing schools again, when we went and had a look i could just see DD would fit in well at this unit just so hard to make decisions sometimes.

HI SARAH how are you, hows it all going at your end good i hope xxxx

I would take up the place and then decide what to do nearer the date. At times I felt that maybe my ds[hfa] was finally settling in year 2 but as soon as he moved to year 3 he found it really stressful again.

My DS started Yr3 in mainstream in Sept, and it's been a nightmare, big difference between infants and juniors. Take the place, otherwise you might not have the option later.
