This book was suggested to me today by ds's nurse therapist and i just wondered if it's any good and does it work?? Or would it only actually be helpful in an NT child?

I haven't got a copy yet so don't know the principles behind it, anyone got any experiences to share.......................
please??

TIA

Private school, you must be kidding?!? It was a run-down state primary situated between two run-down (one was condemned) estates in inner-London. I do miss working there; the children were challenging but the job was amazingly fun and rewarding (if you could see beyond the constant hassle we received from the LA). However, no matter how wonderful and effective our strategies were it ultimately didn't matter; Ofsted gave it a notice to improve because the KS2 results didn't meet the floor targets. Never mind that the floor targets took no account of the many many children who join the school in Y5 unable to speak English (having been educated outside the UK system) or who've been excluded from schools in adjacent boroughs and sent to us to avoid the red-tape surrounding permanent exclusion.

It was frustrating to be in a school where so much good was being done by so many caring staff but the eyes of those in authority couldn't see beyond the statistics but yes, I miss it enormously and no, it definitely wasn't perfect!

Sorry my post was a bit of a non sequitor because I did not realise there was another page before I replied!! That's what a large glass of wine after a bad day with school refusal yet again does. Just don't need to be sent away by another professional suggesting star charts - the stuff of my nightmares, so lots of food for thought in the various suggestions here.

Their like nursing homes, schools...if the carpets are nice beware
Sounds like Waterloo Road rich in hope/empathy/motivation but not a penny..

oh sorry Ampersand44 to hear ...I understand as I've had two bottles this week...been really bad too. Hey I always say each child is different and anything is worth a try esp when dc so distressed in school. I'm really trying to get my head around all this sensory behaviours also, very confusing!

I have looked at this too but it still feels I need to know what it is with Dd- is it asd is it ADHD etc.. I do know that when I try and give consequences that Dd has an almost panic attack and her anxiety is raised hence the naughty step never working when she was young.
Dd will lose her temper 0-60 and scream and lash out so I do t know how this would work, as an aside could the loss of temper be classed as 'impulsive' as per ADHD?
