my dd4 is driving me nuts with her wellys. she wears them all the time, only takes them off without meltdown at bathtime!! wears them to bed, out and about, at nursery, with trousers, with party dress, with nappy only. problem is the wellys are too small, been to shoe shops cant find same ones in larger size(pink fifi flowertots)what do i do? tried to get rid of them, but dd4 retreived them from the kitchen bin. help advice needed!!!!!

I would be very tempted to get rid asap. And not anywhere she can retrieve them. So drive to dump after she has gone to bed or some such.

FWIW DS2's obbsessions drive me around the bend.

I mostly drink

i had this with DD last year,in the end i took them to the tip and replaced them with another pair of a different design.

i had to tell her when she tantrumed at me that i had found spiders in them and she accepted that cos she hates them.

dsrplus8 · 09/11/2008 19:07

thanx. think i will try similar colour wellys and hope she likes. anything to avoid the meltdown!!!!

Would bribery work with her? Had to bribe DS with a Diego book to get him to cooperate with trying on shoes.

dsrplus8 · 09/11/2008 19:36

taking dd4 shopping???? love to ,but its just another of those things that send her into meltdown. just cant face the looks and snide comments about my bratty daughter(ignorance is rife).she also has this thing ,if u remove her footwear she will strip down to her nappy(shes 3yr 6m),screaming as she goes.

diego? is that a clever example of making the ocd work for u? liking it!!!

can you look on ebay for a similar pair?

I'd probably throw them away and put up with the screaming. but I am without heart!

How do I cope with the obsessions? Well, mostly I let it all wash over me and try to not notice as much as possible , if that fails I try to remember that it's who they are and they can't help it.

Failing that, I scream. or drink. or eat my bodyweight in cheese sandwiches!!

cyberseraphim · 09/11/2008 19:47

DS1 had a shoe obsession for a few months when he was about 2 1/2. I changed his shoes (for a non obsessive pair) when he was asleep in the pushchair and that seemed to work.

dsrplus8 · 09/11/2008 19:48

hecate your a tonic, lol cheese sandwiches!!!

My ds obsessed about his cup (beaker) and would not even hold another cup, but I found that when he woke in the eve for a drink if I introduced a new cup he would just take to it, you said she sleeps in them (not sure if this was a joke but could you put the new ones on at night so when she woke up she had new wellies on.

God if that was a joke gonna look the biggest wally on mumsnet

jenk1 · 09/11/2008 20:56

oh dd regularly sleeps in her wellies and her coat and her hat and gloves. SIGH......

alfiemama · 09/11/2008 21:06

Well op did say dd wore them to bed, and I do take things literally, sorry

jenk1 · 09/11/2008 21:10

Oops sorry jenk1, I did think oops again, all new to me this new parallel world lol

Perhaps it would work then,

HangingbaublesofBethlehem · 09/11/2008 21:15

have you had a look on ebay to see if someone is selling the next size up? there's a few here and if you get second hand they will even look used so dd less likely to notice the difference?

alfiemama · 09/11/2008 21:17

Ooh another idea, what about the blank wellies that you can decorate yourself, would she maybe do something like this?

Troutpout · 09/11/2008 21:20

Is it the dark pink ones or light pink..and what size?
