I read a post on here about the Hanen program and on further investigation found this book called "Talkability People skills for verbal children on the autistic spectrum -A guide for parents." by Fern Sussman. It is full of practical advice and ideas and well illustrated. I can't put it down. It's fantastic and I just wanted to recommend it.

Sounds great and just what we need at the moment. Thanks for that.

Have ordered it. Can you give an example of the exercises in it?

Sorry to take so long replying nikos. Been at work. Your book has probably arrived by now! The book basically coaches you on how to carefully phrase the language you use with your child to get the most out of conversations. How to encourage topic maintainance, develop your child's ability to look at you when you're talking and to read non verbal clues, expressions, gestures etc. It then moves on to friendship skills. I'm only part way through it but it has given me lots of food for thought.
