Since dd1 was just 2 she has been attending the special education unit in some form or another.

She started in playgroup, then progressed to a kindy group ( where I had to leave her!), then onto a preschool sort of group.

This year she has transitioned to Prep in mainstream starting with 3 days mainstream and two in the special ed unit ( this is at the special school). She then progressed to a 4/1 split.

Today but also very was her last day at the special ed unit at the special school. From next week she starts 5 days a week in mainstream!!! Well done dd1. She is very excited - I am not sure she realises it means no more of her lovely teachers etc who have seen her grow and develop - seen her start walking and talking and seen us have dd2 and dd3.

It has been 4 1/2 years of our life. I am excited and nervous and I did shed some tears when we left this afternoon. BUT she has come so far and is doing so well.

So well done dd1.

It must have been an emotional and exciting experience - I hope all goes well in full time mainstream - but it sounds as if it will as it has been well planned.

Goodness...what an emotional rollercoaster for you?? Well done to your dd, and indeed all of you. Let's hope mainstream are every bit as good?

Oh wow eidsvold, that's so exciting!

I can't believe how grown up your dd1 is now...time flies and all that.
