Stop Press:Autistic Child Likes Dentist

DS1 (ASD) had his first visit to the dentist this morning and it went surprisingly well He loved the chair and staring up at the light was mesmerising. He let the dentist look at his teeth and they are all fine ! It just shows how they can surprise you at times. So we're going back to have plastic coatings put on which prevent fillings.

J does too - especially the chair that goes up and down and all the buttons...

So does my autistic son. He also likes going for shoe fittings, haircuts, going to the doctor + having professional photos taken, all the things my non-autistic daughter always kicked up a huge fuss about for years!! Does seem strange, (but nice)!!

I was very surprised. I was almost sick with worry taking him.

oooh that's good
ds isn't good at the dentists(hates the chair and the light)...or at the hairdressers (given up.. i do it myself) or at cutting nails (this is really bad still). Can just about abide shoe fittings...although says they are all too tight

MY DAUGHTER LOVES the dentist also never been an issue unlike the hairdressers

It must be another of those 'autistic children are all the same' myths.
