Self Referral to Speech Therapy

Assuming self means the parent in this context.

It might help but will you actually get anything other than a place on a waiting list ?

Would have helped us - as I asked for DS to be put on the list at 2.3 when I first sensed something was wrong - GP/HV refused to refer until DS was 3. So at least 9 months were wasted.

that's appalling total, we got referred at 2, through the HV at our request. Had a 7 week total wait. Every area should do this imo.

After reading about the experiences of people in other areas I phoned up the NHS's patient-line and left some feedback praising the self-referral and drop in clinic that the SALTS run in our area.

Suggest everyone does the same (oh dear, I'm getting into one of my "for every winge there's an action", I can just feel it! But seriously folks, it needs doing and it seems to make a big difference).

Dd2 was refered at 2 but i think they only did this as dd1 is on the autistic spectrum.

We had to wait 8 weeks to see SALT though.
