Just given dd her first dose. i just made it up and thickened it a bit(all her drinks are thickened) she hated it, it nearly made her sick,

do you add squash?
(next time i won't thicken)

I put it dd's drink (250ml of half water, half fortini), as long as you have the required amount of water in the drink (65ml per sachet IIRC) I think you can put it in any drink so squash should be okay. My DD wouldn't drink it neat at all.

delllie · 27/09/2008 18:26

sorry just to add that fortini is a fortified milk drink!

at the moment she is on one sachet so it has to be mixed with just over 60ml water. so very small drink.

DD1 drinks little or no liquid and there is no way I am risking putting her off the few sips she will take. Movicol (v small doses) goes in mixed with her yoghurt. Still seems to work.

interesting
the doc made a big thing about how dd doesn't drink( I saind she does just the school don't give her enough) they seemed to be saying to have movicol you had to drink a lot.

he is 6 and takes it lovely

saint2shoes · 27/09/2008 21:59

I do think dd will be ok If I make it with squash(evil squash with e numbers)

ah, but it is the Enumbers that make it so drinkable!

Woooozle100 · 27/09/2008 22:58

are you getting the paed movical or half movical? They are the same in terms of strength but the paed one (purple lettering. Think the 'half' one has blue lettering) is supposed to taste better. But think its also more expensive so doctor / pharmacy will always lean towards giving you the half one.

I generally just sprinkle it into the friuty mush I give dd off spoon cos she has given up on drinking altogether

saint2shoes · 27/09/2008 23:02

due to a bit of a cock up, I had to borrow the movicol from my tame chemist. I checked with the nurse and he said she would be on the pead one, so I have borrowed 10 sachets, hopefully on monday the prescription will be sorted out. I think the problem is it was "different" dd doesn't do "different"

Ah all the best. Wow - impressed they didn't try and fob you off with the cheaper salty stuff. Must be my stingy pct - they still try 2 yrs down the line to sneak a cheaky half box in. And dd is only 3 yo ffs! Maybe she's too over her quota of meds and they have to claw something back somewhere!

saint2shoes · 27/09/2008 23:42

the good thing is my tame chemist is really good and also he knows dd's doc at her sn school, so she knows that if she makes a mistake or trys to palm me of with crap he will pick up on it.

I sprinkle half a sachet on my sons weetabix of a morning, as it gets mixed in with the milk and cereal itself it disguises the taste. I know it should be mixed with water/milk/squash but it put my son off drinking and I found this way helped.
Good luck - it is magic stuff!!
