Am a bad mummy today. Its the carnival in our village today but DS has been 'simmering' all morning IYKWIM. He has been close to boiling point a few times and i know all the noise and people will push him over the edge if i took him to the carnival. Dh is working so im alone with DS and DD and know i will struggle to contain him if he kicks off. Ive blamed the weather and told a small lie that i feel poorly. Obviously he doesnt give a damn about me being ill and is cross he cant go to carnival but i reckon ive distracted him by offering 2 hours of non stop TV of his choice! He is now sat in front of TV watching Doctor Who on Demand and i know he wont move till carnival is over!
Im so crap!

you are not crap, it is Sunday and even us mums deserve a day off from the weekly fight we have to go through! Anyway, I think Dr Who is one of the best things on TV so he is getting an education just by watching it imho.

That's not bad parenting, that's just sensible and shows how in tune you are with your DS's behaviours. You'd be no good to them exhausted, dragging them home again in tears (all of you?) after trying to deal with a public meltdown. Can you spend the money you've saved on a treat for tea?
And yes Dr Who is fab, most scifi is TBH.

thanks! He sat for nearly 2 whole episodes before he started twitching but has completely forgotton about the carnival and is currently sat with DD sorting marbles into colours and size!! I actually put DD to bed and managed a half hour doze on sofa too so feel refreshed enough till bed time!
