Have just been informed from a friend that I could qualify for DLA and carer's allowance for my DS.

Was unaware of this.

Could anybody please tell me what benefits I may be able to claim or a website with that information.

Someone mentioned council tax help.

Would appreciate any help.

Hi poppyhead.

You can find out about both those things on the department of work and pensions website.

The dla form is horrendous to fill in but the financial benefits ,if you get awarded, are worth it!!

You can just ring them and ask for a form. You should try and get help filling it in because it is hard going.

If you get mid to high rate care component on the dla you could be entitled to carers allowance if you dont earn more than £95 a week.

If you get these benefits you can then apply for others like child tax credits and possibly council tax help.
When you get these forms they come with leaflets on what other help is available.

I recommend you read through the guide on the Cerebra website here. Its long but really helpful. Also keep a copy of your answers to the form as this helps when having to reapply.
