Potty training advice for nearly three-year-old with a new baby due

I kind of need help with this sorry I have a new kiddo coming and I don't want to being changing 2 sets of diapers and potty training is not working out and kiddo is almost 3 so need help with pt or handing to sets of diapers

Does DC1 have additional needs/suspected additional needs? I assume so since you have posted in SN Children but you don’t mention it. If DC1 does, what are their needs? Because without knowing more, it is difficult to comment. Also what have you already tried and for how long?

She is level two autistic she also has arfid and some sensory problems we've been trying off and on for almost a year it would be a year once she turns tree @roaringdragon

For some, sensory processing issues can make potty training harder. Have a read of proprioception and interoception. Has DD seen an OT?

When you say off and on, are you persevering for long enough? Swapping between potty training and not constantly will be confusing and it isn’t a quick process.

Do you mean you have a month on potty training and a month off? If so, I would stop that. That will be incredibly confusing for DD.

Not exactly what I mean by we are making her go every once a while for on and we are slightly more relaxed for off we are always encouraging her @roaringdragon

She’s 2, unless there is some significant medical history you haven’t mentioned, no-one is going to tell you DD will be incontinent.

@roaringdragon has been has been a few members of my family that have been incontinence for all there life

But unless DD also has/may have the medical condition(s) your family members have it won’t matter to DD. Presumably you would have mentioned if their medical conditions also applied to DD.

Then I think you need to request a referral to a pead. I’m slightly confused why you didn’t mention this earlier in the thread when I asked if DD had additional needs. It is rather central to the issue of potty training.

You don’t have to apologise. It is just rather important information. Although I still think a more consistent approach will help, if only to be able to show HCPs that you have tried that.
