How long are new DLA claims taking

New claim DLA

I put in a claim for DLA for my daughter the scan date was the 26th June. I received a letter to say they had it.

I called on the 14th July and they said it isn’t with a decision maker yet.

how long are everyone new claims taking? Mine has been 3 weeks with no update.

I sent new evidence in a week ago aswell.

6-8 weeks, potentially slightly longer. Did you send the new evidence to them tracked, worth checking they got it as it might potentially not be scanned in time

Sent mine end of May and had a scan date text on 11th June. Not heard anything since.

Received payment on Friday 31st July for £1284, which went straight in bank. Was a new claim. Scan date was 17th June 2026. Backdated payment went in 31st July. In total took 6 weeks 2 days to be awarded. This was the best outcome for my son. Knew he didn’t warrant high rate for care or mobility. So really pleased he was awarded this. He was awarded middle rate care and low rate mobility.

Ours was about 6 weeks (applied Feb, chased March and paid early April).

Hi all, looking for some advice and support really. New claim, dd is 15, been putting off forms for 2 years ( the one I sent was number 13 ) which is ridiculous but I struggle with my MH and have ADHD and the relief that it has finally gone is immense.

had no text to say form was received despite me sending first class recorded on the 20th August. Rang today and scan date it 25/08.

asked about wait times and told they don’t know!
