SN Pushchairs, any advice?

Good evening

Well after a nightmare trip to the shops I am wondering whether we will need to consider a SN pushchair for Daniel. We currently use a Quinny Zapp but he is just too big and hangs out of it He will walk but sometimes we just need to use the pushchair.

Is there any standard pushchair that would accomodate a larger than average 3.5 year old (hoping we can eventually get out of using it)?

Or where do I start with SN ones. I have seen the Maclaren ones which look ideal but very expensive even on Ebay.

you can ask your physio to refer to the local wheelchair clinic, where you should be able to get a Major buggy from the NHS. HTH

As SGK says, the usual plan is to get Wheelchair Services to assess you. They do SN buggies as well as proper "wheelchairs" and if you can demonstrate the need you should get one even if DS can walk. In some areas they supply them direct, in others they give you a "voucher" to hand to online suppliers which you can top up with your own funds to give you more choice. Pretty much anyone (anyone medical, obv ) can refer to Wheelchair Services - GP even - though obv it's easier if you get a referral from someone who understands why you have the problem and can bung a few lines of justification on the form.

We have a MountainBuggy XL. A lot of people have the Maclaren Major. The MB is expensive but about the only advantage of living in our area (West Surrey) is they give large vouchers so most of the cost was covered.

By repute, the Phil & Ted's is a bit larger than other standard buggies so might be worth a try in the meantime - but that's not a cheap buggy either and it won't last you long so it's probably only worth it if you can grab an absolute bargain on ebay or inherit from a friend.

An aside - if you've got a zapp then is space in the car an issue? You may need to look at that quite carefully; you'll not get a large/SN version that folds up as small as the zapp. Many will fit into a standard boot, but you may have to eg take the wheels off which is a faff. None are teensy tiny.
