What medication do you get prescribed. Profound autism/ADHD/SLD?

Asking because I feels many families are left to struggle because of STOMP guidelines actively discouraging the use of meds, and the usefulness of these guidelines in helping reduce the cost of medications. It feels the system is gamed towards forcing parents to breaking point. I understand why these are I'm place because of institutions in the past abusing this, but families are on their own 24/7 with very little options in terms of medical intervention. Our appointment for ADHD diagnosis keeps getting delayed/cancelled because we want to try medication. Our consultant seems a bit scared of prescribing anything, even though it may help. Our son is 7. CAMHS are very much the same.

We would just be looking for trialling ADHD meds and PRN. We aren't even looking to try antipsychotics. It's really frustrating because I feel my son would learn better and have better skills with meds and I feel he is being let down. He can't concentrate on anything for a length of time.

How did you manage to get medication? Was it a fight (as with everything else 😡)?
