I hope so as I have just fired of a very terse email!!
dd has had the same social worker for about 3 years. before that she had a named sw.
now her SW has been promoted they have put her on duty(whatever SW free deals with it)
I have already asked for a named sw and been turned down.
well I just rang her respite place(she is there tonight) and a sw who i have never heard of or met it doing the visit(they have to visit every now and again)
I an fXXXX furious. how dare they send a complete stranger out to see dd. ok the respite people know him.. but I don't.
well am I BU???

Don't start me off. I've had a duty SW since my lovely one went on ML. I can't wait for her to come back.
I've got a few issues with some neighbours that I need to chat to her about.

Oh and YANBU. I'd want to know who is meeting my Ds. He can't judge them so I have to!!

persil36 · 18/06/2008 16:18

YANBU. I think it's disgraceful they won't give your DD a named SW.

We had our named social worker removed as well but are welcome to ring the duty team

crap isn't it.

TotalChaos · 18/06/2008 17:04

as if you don't have enough on your plate without having to reinvent the wheel and speak to some random stranger each time you have a problem/request...

bullet123 · 18/06/2008 17:44

Not being unreasonable at all.

MannyMoeAndJack · 18/06/2008 18:02

After a long fight to get SS to consider even holding a case for my ds, we were given a named SW but I never see her from one month to the next, she never replies to my emails, is never there when I call, etc. I'd be glad to look into the eyes of any SW if it meant they were helping us!!!

Hope the stand-in SW is OK and more to the point, is helpful.

Seuss · 18/06/2008 18:58

Not unreasonable at all - I know nothing of how social workers operate but there doesn't seem a lot of point in having one you don't even know and I hate the thought of my children (any of them) being looked after by people I've never met or at least been informed about beforehand.
