dd had her tonsils/adenoids out and grommits in last thursday.

since sunday she,s been screaming that her ears hurt her, we had her at the GP,s on monday and she said she has a throat infection and has put her on anti-biotics.

she,s on ibuprofen every 8 hours and calpol every 6 but is still complaining about her ears, ive noticed its whenever there is music playing.

i think it could be cos everything sounds louder and that she,s sensitive, is this common with grommits does anyone know. i had grommits as a child but i cant remember.

TIA

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but it might be worth speaking to the consultant via his/her secretary. Do you have a check-up appointment booked?

my dd1 complained about lots of noise each time after having grommets. She would not scream but she certainly was a lot more sensitive to noise - everything had to be turned down - right down. I think too for dd1 it was the fact she could hear everything so clearly.

Not sure if you can get it in the UK but here in Aus they recommended something called Painstop for the pain - there is a daytime one and a nighttime one.

DD didn't seem affected by loud noises after her grommets were fitted--I would have a chat with the consultant or an audiologist, if your dd has one.
Or maybe she just doesn't like your taste in music

sorry, foreigner here- what are grommits? ear tubes?

cktwo · 12/06/2008 18:54

Yeah kind of. They drain the ear of mucus behind the ear drum (thats very untechnical btw )

You gave me a jolt- my 2.5 keeps having hearing problems, even after his adenoids were removed, and the local ENT (we are in italy, god bless this medieval country) keeps saying it's because his ears are full of mucus. Holy crap, why has he not suggested grommets? thanks, I am making an appointment tomorrow and demanding he deal w/the damn mucus. thanks again, i am glad i asked.
