Desperately looking for some advice, DD scan date was 29/10/2024.
MR and delays with DLA resulted in 50 week wait, and her being accepted for DLA.
Just as I thought it was finally over, I submitted all the info and the correct dates to the DWP in September 2025.
They would not verify her as they stated she was not in receipt of DLA, I checked what I had submitted and rang the DLA to confirm everything. Including correct names and address, to find any reason why it didn’t match up.
I explained this on my ‘Journal’ and alas she was verified, and Disabled Child Element has now been added.
I had also, requested back pay, from 29/10/2024.
I have now received a letter from the ‘Decision Maker’ confirming that they will accept the change from 29/10/2025… 25 NOT 24!
Given it was originally reported in September 2025, and all correct dates provided and (eventually) verified by DWP, does this mean she will miss out on the back pay of Disabled Child Element for almost a year Oct 2024- Sept 2025 (50 weeks, plus the time it took to verify her). Given I am not at fault here, and it would appear it has been an error on someone else’s part I am at a loss at what to do.
I have a case open with OT for specialist equipment for DD, but whatever they don’t cover was going to be covered by these monies, and I’m panicking.
I left a note explaining this on Monday and I have heard nothing…
Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
