I've posted this in Chat but figured you guys wuold relate to how proud i am of what is seemingly only a "little" thing.

DS is 7 and has ASD, so related mobility difficulties and very poor balance.

never thought he would ever be able to ride a bike.

Well myself and 2 of my most fabulous brothers have spent all weekend teaching him and HE CAN DO IT!!!!

he is now riding his bike unaided.

I am soo proud, i actually cried today when he managed to get right the way ruond the park all by himself.
he isn't very fast and he wobbles a bit of people get too close to him but he can do it.

Just had to share.

Fabulous. It's a huge achievement for him, well done.

that is great....!!! My son 2.7 has just figured out how to use a straw- he is severely delayed. Now I find myself making him lots of milksakes so he can practise...
!!

All the small things X

Snap mamazon! Well done your DS. My DS2 who is seven finally got the hang of his bike last night too(he could go downhill before but not on the flat or uphill because he couldn't get started). I then nearly had a nervous breakdown as DS2 and his two brothers zoomed around constantly having near misses!

That is great, Mamazon. I bet it will be a big boost to his self-confidence.

Well done you and your brothers .

Well done to Mamazon ds and Allytyds ds2, for their bike riding and Lauroberts ds for getting the hang of a straw! All very big important acheivements!
There were tears in my eyes a few weeks back when ds got the bike to balance -hes still working on steering - I feel like I need to run infront with a red flag! And 'getting' how to use a straw is major- life is so much easier after that!!

Bugmum · 09/06/2008 20:07
