How can I stop him smearing

Can anyone please please offer me some suggestions to get my DS to stop smearing poo all over his room
He's not toilet trained and he's also non verbal. He keeps his pull up on during the day but will not at night. He stripes off, removes his nappy, poos and smears I'm exhausted from cleaning his room daily and have had to throw so many mattress protectors out because they are smeared beyond saving. I do manage to clean some of them but it's costing us a small fortune.
We've tried onsies with zipper at the back, we've tried pinning his onesie yet no matter what he still gets them off.
Today it was literally all over the floor (and the mattress protector that I had to throw away again)
At this point I'm willing to try anything.

Are there any days when it doesn’t happen?
Does he understand what is said to him at all?
How old is he?
Does he poo every night?

I know a parent whose DC escaped a onsie on backwards etc. who put their DC is a wet suit. Although I’m not sure how comfortable that would be to sleep in!

Have you thought about a specialist bed e.g. a safespace bed? It wouldn’t stop the smearing altogether, but would contain it.

Has DS had a sensory OT assessment?
