A younger relative, with two young children with special needs, is initiating a divorce and hopes that the process will be as quick as possible eg about 7 months.
Their partner didn't want the marriage to end.
The older child has an autism diagnosis and is non-verbal. They attend a unit for children with autism attached to a mainstream primary school. They get very distressed by changes of routine such as trips away/unfamiliar places.
The younger child has significant speech delay and the EHCP process has started because of regular severe meltdowns requiring one to one supervision.
(Financially things may be complicated in terms of who really owns what - properties, shares etc - and also the amount of readily available money that isn't tied up.)
My sense is that the process will not be able to be a quick one, so would find it helpful to know how others have found the process.
